THE OBVIOUS EVIDENCE OF BALINESE CULTURE PRESERVATION

 

Ungasan, Badung, 1 Juli 2019 – Penjor is an offerings from human to their God for all the graces. Penjor is made from bamboo and decorated with coconut leaf and any crops, installed in front of Balinese house. Penjor also a symbol of mountain which is the sanctuary of Hindu’s God. Penjor usually installed on Galungan and Kuningan day. During celebrate Galungan day, GWK Cultural Park as cultural destination in Bali present “GWK Penjor Festival 2019”. This event held on 13-27 July 2019 is form of commitment of GWK Cultural Park on supporting the preservation of Balinese culture. “GWK Penjor Festival” started with Penjor Making Competition on 13 July 2019. During “GWK Penjor Festival 2019”, GWK Cultural Park offer 50% discount for Balinese ID holders, Balinese Student Card holders and KITAS holders.

Penjor Making Competition is open for public and junior high school, senior high school, and university student. Participants are the delegates from Banjar or school with maximum 5 persons per group. Penjor Making Competition divide on two groups, Sacred Penjor and Decoration Penjor. Participants are not allowed to use Styrofoam or plastics. During the competition, participants must wear Balinese clothes. The judgment is based on creativity, uniqueness, harmony, aesthetics, neatness, and the comprehensiveness of the materials.

The winner of Penjor Making Competition get trophy, charter, and money with total millions rupiah. “GWK Penjor Festival 2019” completed with Penjor Exhibition in Lotus Pond and Festival Park area for two weeks. Moreover, visitors can enjoy Balinese cultural performances and music performances only on GWK Cultural Park.
