Kuta Bali Area Guide - Am I a vacationer who should stay in the Area of Kuta-Bali?

Nothing is left from the original Kuta. Restaurants, Spas or Hotels and Resorts have taken over this old fishermen’s village within a decade and it is already very hard to experience the traditional Balinese charm outside the hotels in this area.
Kuta became Bali’s biggest nightlife and party area by far as it’s very popular with younger people and Australians. Legian Street is covered with nightclubs, offering the young exactly what they are looking for. Happy Hours, Free Flow, Rooftop Pool Bars or Events make the perfect hotbed for party seeking people.
Kuta virtually offers an unlimited amount of shopping opportunities in every price category. Those who have the money spend it for a new Cartier at the Duty Free area in front of Mall Bali Galleria. Others find scarves, sunglasses, clothes or handicrafts at malls or local markets. Sellers outside regular malls can be very pushy, Why? Many market shares have been taken over by modern malls and the prices in Bali have risen. This makes a seller’s life dramatically harder.
If you belong to Kuta’s target group, you will surely enjoy Kuta beach. The roughly 6 kilometers long coastline with white sandy beaches is the perfect place to relax. Also, if you are looking for somebody to party with in the evening, making contacts at Kuta Beach is very easy. Last but not least it is a perfect place to learn surfing. You can find many local professional surfers along the coastline offering to share their knowledge.
All in all, Kuta offers you a lot of opportunities including a lovely sunset and value for money. If you like it quieter, more sophisticated or if you are looking for culture, don’t stay in Kuta at all.

Seminyak Area Guide - Am I a vacationer who should stay in the Area of Seminyak in Bali?

Seminyak, located in the north of Kuta and to the north of Legian, is Bali’s sophisticated shopping and nightlife area. Most of the nightclubs and lots of the accommodation are high-end. It is also Bali’s villa district and the home to many expatriates.
Seminyak can be described as a mix of Nusa Dua and Kuta as it has the flavor of Nusa Dua’s Exclusivity and the nightlife of Kuta.
However it looks like Seminyak might not able to keep up its glamorous outlook. The roads are not in the best shape, the traffic has become very heavy and the Party People of Kuta have declared Seminyak as their new territory.
Nevertheless, Seminyak is also very popular for its beach club area stretching along double six, Bali’s Entertainment Beach Area. Cocoon Beach Club, Ku De Ta Beach Club and Potato Head are competing for the title of “Best Beach Club on Bali”.
Canggu, located north of Seminyak, is another exclusive area but not as crowded as Seminyak and the perfect place for honeymooners. Togetherness is guaranteed.
Seminyak is still the perfect place for people who are looking for a sophisticated nightlife and want to spend money on cocktails and shopping.

Ubud Area Guide - Am I a vacationer who should stay in the Area of Ubud in Bali?

Ubud has a lot to offer and it’s very different to all the other areas in Bali as it tries to stay self-governing. To understand Ubud and Bali in general, you should be aware that village law general stands above the federal law.
This fact makes Bali partially ungovernable, although isn’t it this little chaotic charm which attracts us in the first place?
Have you ever seen an American fast food brand in Ubud such as KFC or MC Donald’s? No, even though this business is growing so massively in Bali. The Banjar, the leader of the local community, has only given a few the permission to build an American Fast Food Business in Ubud and hopefully it stays like this. Also, apart from the local drivers you can’t find any big Taxi company based in Ubud.
Both facts should give the evidence that Ubud massively fights against the western influence, the power of large concerns and wants to keep the original charm of a Balinese village/region, and so far it has worked.
Ubud attracts everybody with its various places of interest such as the Monkey Forest or the Ubud Market, the large number of museums (Antonio Blanco Museum, Neka Museum or Agung Rai Museum of Art) and dance performances (Kecak Dance, Legong Dance, Barong Dance,..) or the galleries and art shops. Ubud is clearly a must see and/or must stay when you come to Bali.

Tanjung Benoa Area Guide - Am I a vacationer who should stay in the Area of Tanjung Benoa in Bali?

If it comes to water sport (ex diving and snorkeling), Tanjung Benoa is exactly the place to go. This area is located just a stone’s throw away from Bali’s exclusive Hotels, Villas and Resorts Area.

Tanjung Benoa, even it is very busy during the day with banana boat, parasailing, jet-ski, fly-fish and other activities done on the ocean, it gets sleepy and relaxed in the evening and night times. Tanjung Benoa is full of good (seafood) restaurants, Spas and also the one or other beach club is located in Tanjung Benoa. But the place is far away from being an area from heavy nightlife.
Somehow Tanjung Benoa reminds a little to Sanur (which can reached within 15 - 20 minutes) as it offers a little bit of everything without getting to excessive which makes Tanjung Benoa not the worst place to stay!

In addition to this, even the location is close to the exclusive Nusa Dua area, prices are moderate and affordable accommodation easy to find. As Sanur, Tanjung Benoa is a very family friendly place as kids can be entertained easily on the beach.

Generally spoken, Tanjung Benoa is a place to stay for every age and interest. Some cultural highlights such as Uluwatu Temple or the 5 prayer houses are located not too far from Tanjung Benoa. Kuta, the party district is also just 20 minute

Sanur Area Guide - Am I a vacationer who should stay in the Area of Sanur in Bali?

Put some small parts of Kuta, Jimbaran, Tanjung Benoa and Nusa Dua into a melting pot, then stir vigorously, leave this mixture to settle and the form you will be left with is Sanur. Europeans especially feel at home and are attracted to Sanur.

Everything is within moderation in Sanur, even the traffic and the prices are reasonable. Sanur can also be described as a neat and sleepy village.
Even the ocean in Sanur is different. The scenery reminds you more of a plunge pool, which makes Sanur the perfect place for families with kids as it is very family-friendly.
Sanur has a wonderful beach promenade. It is completely relaxing to stroll along the promenade of Sanur Beach. Hire a bicycle if you would rather feel the wind in your face as you soak up the marvelous views.
Benoa Harbor, located in the south of Sanur is the primary launch point for countless day cruises.
It would not be fair to describe Sanur as boring but if you look for excitement, you shouldn’t stay here. Sanur is chosen as an alternative, mostly by honeymooners with a limited budget, families with kids, travelers aged 45+, and Kuta lovers who don’t need the excessive amount of parties anymore.

Jimbaran and Bukit Area Guide - Am I a vacationer who should stay in the Area of Jimbaran or the Bukit in Bali?

The Bukit and Jimbaran, which are located in the most south western part of Bali, in the neighborhood of Nusa Dua, are also developing very quickly. The property prices compared to other areas are still affordable (about 300 USD/m2).
As with Nusa Dua, this area can also be recommended to almost everybody, apart from the party people. While Nusa Dua stands for pure luxury, Jimbaran offers a nice selection of accommodation from every price category. Especially in the Bukit, there is still accommodation available for 10 USD a night which is highly appreciated by all the surfers. Along Uluwatu Street (Jalan Uluwatu), the way to Uluwatu Temple (Pura Luhur Uluwatu), two, three and four star accommodation can be found. The 5 star Hotels and Resorts are mostly located around Jimbaran Bay and the New Kuta area that was formerly known as Dreamland.
If we can believe the professional surfers, Jimbaran has the hottest Beach spots in Bali (Pecatu Area). One of the beaches is called Impossible. This area is only recommended for professional surfers. Newcomers should not even think about trying to mess with this force of nature.
As already mentioned, Uluwatu Temple (Pura Luhur Uluwatu), one of Bali’s six most important temples, is probably the biggest attraction in this area. However Jimbaran also offers a culinary highlight, which can be visited every day if you are a seafood lover. The sunset dinner in Jimbaran, is another clear highlight and a must do when you are in Bali, even if you are not staying in Jimbaran.  Around 25 -30 Warungs (local Restaurants), are located to the left and right of Intercontinental Beach Resort, offering fresh fish for a very reasonable price.  A 1.5 kilo of Red Snapper, served with rice, water spinach and outstanding sauces, also including a fruit dessert, comes up to about 15 USD. Additionally you get a great sunset view and a table directly on the beach, entirely for free. This culinary highlight is clearly value for money.
Jimbaran and Nusa Dua, both offer great Wedding opportunities. Wedding chapels that are situated directly on the cliff make Jimbaran and Nusa Dua Weddings an unforgettable experience. The extraordinary wedding chapels, combined with stunning views and perfect organization guarantee an extraordinary Wedding in the south of Bali – For every Guest!
In Jimbaran, you can still experience the Balinese charm as it is not overdeveloped yet. Accommodation in every price range is also available. Surfers and high end clients meet in Jimbaran Bay for sunset dinners. High end shopping is not available yet but Nusa Dua is not far. In case you don’t have the Dollars for Nusa Dua and you are looking for a place away from Bali’s heavy nightlife, Jimbaran is the place to stay for you.

Lovina and Singaraja Area Guide - Am I a vacationer who should stay in the area of Lovina or the area of Singaraja in Bali?

Singaraja Area and the area of Lovina are both located at the north coast of Bali which is very popular for the black sandy beaches. Not far from these areas are located some of Bali's nicest hot springs and waterfalls as well as the highest mountains which are the perfect spot for hiking , cycling and climbing. Also plenty of other natural beauties are located close to these cities in Bali's northern area. Lovina has compared to Singaraja, the former capital of Bali, two advantages.

1. One of Bali's must do thing is available in Lovina - The dolphin watching tour
2. It is easier to get in touch with tourists as the nightlife has started to develop moderately

Both cities are dominated by Europeans and plenty of Dutch, French and Germans have settled down in the north of Bali. Costs of living in the north of Bali are still much cheaper than in the south which means the evenings become cheaper. Pemuteran, located in Bali's National Park and a great spot for snorkeling and diving can be reached within about 1 hour from Lovina and Singaraja. Both areas are perfectly made to hire a motor bike and explore the north of Bali.

Generally spoken, Singaraja and Lovina are pretty much the same and both are the perfect area to stay for vacationers looking for cultural highlights or want to explore the natural beauties of Bali.
Individual travelers, having interest in culture, cycling, hiking and nature should split their Bali stay. 50% of the stay should be enjoyed in Bali's northern area and the other half in the southern area of Bali.

Tulamben and Amed Area Guide - Am I a vacationer who should stay in the area Amed or Tulamben in Bali?

Welcome to Bali's two most popular diving and snorkeling areas. The Area around Amed and Tulamben, which are located about a 25 minute drive from each other (19 kilometers), is the perfect place for all diving fanatics and also a great area for snorkeling. The pace of living in both areas is really slow and it is a great area for relaxation and to recover from the daily stress back home. As in the area of Lovina and Singaraja it is highly recommended to hire a bike in this area and to explore Bali's highlights located in the north east of Bali on their own.

Beaches in this area are stonier than the ones in Singaraja and Lovina but people staying in these two areas have anyway more interest in Bali's aquamarine life then lying on the beach.

Generally spoken, both areas are perfectly made for diving fanatics. The two major diving spots in Bali, Manta Point and the shipwreck of USS Liberty, make the area around Amed and Tulamben one of the best diving spots and attract diving and snorkeling fanatics from all over the world.
