Buleleng or Singaraja
The City of Singaraja
Coastal City in the North of Bali and Bali's ex-capital
Singaraja - The former capital of Bali
Singaraja, the ex-capital of Bali which is located in the north of the island, offers great Black Sand Beaches.
The city lost its importance with the increasing tourism on Bali in the south, and it became necessary to change the capital into Denpasar in 1992.
It is the largest town on the north coast with about 100,000 inhabitants. Compared to the 750,000 inhabitants in Denpasar and this shows you just how significantly Denpasar has grown over the last 20 years and how important the change from Singaraja to Denpasar was.
Many Beaches to the east and west of Singaraja invite you for a lie down, a spot of sunbathing or even to start your snorkelling or diving tour from there.
Compared to other cities in Bali, Singaraja is different due to its bigger streets, but if you expect to find lots of other attractions other than the ones previously mentioned or an active nightlife scene in this area, you’d better stay in the south.
